Our Society is sad to see the passing of one of our Founding members, Harvey E. Oyer, Jr., on December 18th, 2010. Harvey was not only a Founding charter member, but he was also a strong supporter of our Society financially; he promoted our Society constantly; he attended almost every event since our 2007 inception; he provided guidance and input on every issue since our foundation; and he was the public contact for our Society. Harvey and his gentle, caring, history-loving soul will be greatly missed by all.
Our Society is sad to see the passing of one of our newer members, Richard Koppe, Jr. Richard was funny, intelligent, and a joy to be around. His surprise passing was a great shock to our members who will miss him greatly. He will be missed by all who knew him. Richard passed away in early Fall 2011.
Our Society regretfully notes the passing of Dr. Gerald Jones, the beloved husband of our former Vice President, Elizabeth Sharland-Jones. Gerald was a kind, gentle soul who was a delight to be around. He passed away in January of 2012. His loss is felt by all the membership.
Our Society was shocked to learn of the passing of member, and noted international barrister, George C. J. Moore. George was a funny, friendly, internationally-successful man who brought joy to those around him. It was a privilege and delight to have him both as a speaker and member. George passed in March 2013.
Our Society was saddened to learn of the passing of long-term member, retired Judge Henry Logan, of New York and Palm Beach. His dear, warm smile and desire to instill knowledge in others will be greatly missed by all. It was a privilege to know him and have him as a member of our Society as he was so active in many worthy organizations besides ours. "The Judge" passed away on March 5, 2016.
Our Society is saddened to learn of the passing of former member John P. Veasy, Jr aka "Capt. Jack". He was very supportive of our Society, not long after our formation. His advise as we grew was invaluable. He was president of the Circumnavigator's Club of Palm Beach when they decided to co-sponsor our first fashion show & luncheon in March 2016. Jack passed in September 2016.
Moyra died in February 2019. She was born in India, but passed in West Palm Beach surrounded by loved ones. Moyra was a member for a couple years. Many of us were lucky to know her from her involvement in many other organizations.
Gloria Bale died in mid-June 2019. Gloria was one of our Founding Members. Gloria helped us in many ways over the years, including mail facilitation and society contact. She passed surrounded by loved ones, including her husband Bob Bale. Gloria was a delight to be around, a strong supporter and promoter of our organization, and will be missed by all of us who knew her.
We were saddened to learn of the passing of Frank at the end of July 2020. Frank was a newer member, but had many friends in our society. Frank was a lawyer, judge, and successful businessman. Frank was active in many organizations--so many of us consider ourselves lucky to have known him. He will be missed by so many.
Our dear friend, David Riker, passed away February 25, 2021. He and his wife Lynne were active members for years. David always had a quick smile, was a dear friend to so many, and was always a delight to be around. He had so many friends in our Society--his loss will be deeply felt by so many.
Our beloved co-founder, Bob Bale, passed away on October 21, 2021. Bob has now joined his beloved Gloria who passed in 2019. Bob was an insurance company executive, but post retirement, became a leader in Palm Beach charitable societies by leading several charities over the years. Bob helped move our group forward as we broke away from the Royal Society of St. George and founded our own society. He was instrumental in all aspects of our foundation creation, and his loss is immeasurable to us. Bob is missed by so many in Palm Beach.
We were saddened to learn of the passing of Stephanie and her husband Robin--the Blackhursts--in July 2022. They had been inactive for a couple years, but would participate as they could. Stephanie passed away unexpectedly on July 12. Her beloved Robin who had been suffering from an extended illness passed away two short weeks later. A wonderful couple that will be missed by so many.
Our Society is sad to see the passing of one of our most generous and beloved members, Jacqueline Kato. Jacqueline is survived by her children and husband, Howard G. Smith. She will be remembered as a devoted and loyal member, a warm smile on her face, her kindness, and her generosity to our projects. Jacqueline and Howard were especially generous in their support of our 2021-2023 tree planting initiative with a large donation towards the Boynton Beach tree planting. Jacqueline said she had worked in Boynton for years, had fond memories of the city, and wanted to help beautify it. She passed on March 13, 2024.
Ann Wee was a vivacious member and loved by all in our Society. She attended countless meetings prior to covid, and a few after. She will be remembered for her sense of humor, her loyalty and joy in participating with our Society, her smile, and her friendship towards all. She was a direct descendent of Alexander McDonald, a founder of the state of Georgia. She and her husband lived and travelled the world before moving to Palm Beach. Ann will be missed by all who knew her. According to family, she passed in March 2024 at age 95.
