Nov 16 meeting now at the Hilton Palm Beach Airport
Thank you for supporting our efforts with your donation. On-going fundraising is for: tree plantings in Liverpool, England, funding our British History Endowment Chair at FAU, and restoring ancient books at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle. Please let us know to which fundraiser you want your money applied. Thank you for your donation--we are a 501(c)3 non-profit.
Thank you to all of our shopping friends who helped us receive over $1,000 in donations from Amazon. These donations have been used to buy/plant trees and restore ancient books for the last several years. Thank you!
NEW SHOPPING FUNDRAISER IS IGIVE.COM - HUNDREDS OF STORES THAT GIVE A MUCH BIGGER DONATION PERCENTAGE TO US. Stores include Macy's, top cosmetics companies, and top designers...........plus so many more!
St. George's Society of Palm Beach is formed by Susan Oyer, Harvey E Oyer, Jr, Marian Morgan, and the Bales (Bob & Gloria). The first meeting was at Rosalita's.
Until a permanent meeting place wa chosen, meetings were held at The Boca Muse, including our first formal meeting with PBC Genealogist Marjorie Nelson. All those that joined in 2007 are Founding members.
We created a logo that represents Palm Beach, St. George, and England (see left).
Meetings are moved to The Chesterfield Hotel in Palm Beach--thanks Marian for the suggestion--our meeting location ever since. This has been a great partnership.
We try a variety of fundraisers over the years. Our first raffle items were donated by Cartier, Palm Beach. Royal Wedding programs (William & Catherine) for silent auction were the most successful auction items ever.
Some of our most prominent guest speakers spoke during these years: author/former assistant to the Duchess of Windsor Rene Silvin, Jim "Mr. Palm Beach" Ponce, wine expert/Colonel Bobby Spencer (retired), and author Laurence Leamer.
The Society gets a Twitter feed, joins Meetup.com, and gets member number 100.
Our first fashion show held in March at The Chesterfield Hotel and co-sponsored by The Circumnavigator's Club of Palm Beach to benefit FAU's British History department. The event was chaired by Lady Susan Willis-Reickert and Erick Reickert. Proceeds from this event were used to fund a British History research endowment chair in our name at FAU!!

The St. George's Society of Palm Beach celebrates its 10th birthday on 7-7-2017. Our actual luncheon celebration was held on July 29th at The Chesterfield Hotel. Argentinian artist Paula Weiszkopf donated one of her paintings to us during the luncheon to be auctioned at a later date as a fundraiser. Elected and local officials from Boynton Beach joined us: City Manager Lori Laverriere, then Vice Mayor Justin Katz (now Commissioner, and Commissioner Joseph Casello (now State Representative dist 90).
We create a new logo for our next decade (see left).
We had our largest event ever: our "Dining Royally" event, chaired by Lady Susan Willis-Reickert, which brought in former royal chef Darren McGrady for our March dinner at The Colony Hotel. Over 160 guests were delighted by tales and photos of Chef McGrady's 15+years cooking for HM Queen Elizabeth II, Diana, Princess of Wales, and the rest of the royal family. Chef also oversaw the meal: favorites from each member of the royal family were on the menu.

President Susan Oyer, Vice President Lady Susan Willis-Reickert, and Event Co-Chair Erick Reickert attended the 2019 Garter Ceremony at Windsor Chapel. They were excited to see The Queen drive by and most of the Royal Family participate in the event. The King and Queen of Spain and The Netherlands were also in the ceremony.
We held our first Christmas in Cornwall luncheon in December. A successful Holiday Boutique raised funds to support multiple charity efforts.
After our first 2 events of 2020, we had to cancel our remaining events due to Covid-19 and the worldwide lockdown. Sadly, this included us canceling our luncheon with the British Consulate General--to be rescheduled. In the Fall, we had 4 zoom events that were fundraisers for our British History Endowment Chair at FAU we created and fund.
Due to Covid 19, we waited until most of our members were vaccinated to restart the Spring season. We had a short but fun set of gatherings including a tour of Pan's Garden and a presentation by international kinetic artist Lloyd Goradesky.
In December 2021, we made a large donation to the Queen's Green Canopy to plant 1,000 trees in Liverpool, England. This tree donation supports the Queen's Green Canopy to honor HRM Queen Elizabeth II for her Platinum Jubilee--the QGC is planting 1 million trees for the Jubilee. The QGC suggested the city of Liverpool, England to be the recipient of our 1,000 tree donation as they only have 6% canopy coverage. This is part of our 2021-2022 "A Walk in the Forest" project that also includes us funding local trees for West Palm Beach, Boynton Beach, and Palm Beach. The final part of our project will be planting trees in Tanzania, Africa with Forest Nation. Learn more on our "A Walk in the Forest" page.
President Susan Oyer went to see some of the 1,000 trees were planted during the Winter planting season; the rest should be planted in and around the Liverpool area during the Fall 2022 season. QGC uses local tree group Mersey Forest Update: photos of some of our Liverpool trees can be seen on the "A Walk in the Forest" page.
Our "A Walk in the Forest" tree logo was put in for copyright in 2022. Our president, Susan Oyer, created the logo just for this event. The logo has proven so popular that rhinestone t-shirts were created and several were sold to members.
2022 marked our 15th birthday, so members and friends celebrated in early July! 10,000 trees were donated to Forest Nation to be planted in Tanzania, Africa for our 15th birthday and as part of the "A Walk in the Forest" project. Five large Thatch Palms were planted at Pan's Garden in Palm Beach in November. November also saw 37 flowering trees being planted in Boynton Beach on Woolbright Road just west of Congress Avenue as part of their Sustainability and beautification efforts.
Event co-chairs Susan Willis-Reickert and James Williford put together a fabulous wine & food pairing event for Fall 2022 named "The Perfect Pairing Party." Christine Ansbacher, "The Wine Diva," put on a fabulous educational show that entertained and informed a large crowd at our new home at Tidelines Ocean Resort & Spa in Palm Beach. Despite a date change due to Hurricane Ian, the event was a huge success thanks to James and Susan. The Reuben Foundation was an event sponsor. Proceeds were donated to the Palm Beach Symphony for their Student Arts Enrichment program. A separate donation will be made in Spring 2023 to continue funding our British History Endowment Chair at FAU.
January 2023 saw us go to the West Palm Beach city commission meeting to donate 5 signature trees that are being planted Spring 2023 in the median of Woodlawn Cemetery on Dixie Highway. To conclude our "A Walk in the Forest" project, we donated 96 trees in memory of HRM Queen Elizabeth II through the Queen's Green Canopy. A small group of members donated an additional 96 trees for us to make a 2nd memorial donation. The QGC is having our 192 trees planted in Edinburgh, Scotland--this seemed fitting as The Queen passed in Scotland. Edinburgh has a very low canopy percentage, and they are planting 1 million trees to do their part--we are a proud part of their efforts.
At the end of the Spring, we announced the addition of a patron for our society, former MP, author, financial expert, and television presenter John Browne! In July, we celebrated our 16th birthday party in coronation style in honor of King Charles III's coronation in May.
Fall 2023 saw us move to a temporary new home at the Palm Beach Airport Hilton--forced by delays in the renovations at The Tideline.
